A Green Economy

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the increasingly intertwined nature of economic concerns and environmental concerns. Some of the negative aspects of this evolving relationship are examined from an economic perspective and the causes of these issues are examined in depth. Finally, some possible solutions are discussed in regard to changes in economic policies.

"Since the Industrial Revolution environmental issues have become increasingly intertwined with economic thought and doctrine. In the last 30 years, fueled by technology and the growth of the global economy, this relationship between environmental concerns and economic factors has not only increased but has become all but irrefutable: "...environmental issues have now assumed enough importance to prompt a systematic effort to integrate them into conventional economic analysis"(Amin, 1993, para.4). Because of the complexity of the global economy and the corresponding complexity of the internal economies of countries that are members of the international community, it is almost impossible to consider an economic decision without factoring in the environmental impact or consequences of that decision. "
