Covey's 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families' is an excellent text which describes how families can overcome the vicissitudes of everyday modern life and still find time to help and nurture one another. Covey's book is also very timely insofar as, at the time of its release in 1997, rates of marital infidelity and illegitimacy were at an all-time high and the institution of marriage itself (as well as traditional conceptions of the family) seemed under assault from all sides. Consequently, the book has a "here-and-now" applicability that adds weight to its findings. As expected, Covey divides his tome into seven more-or-less equally long chapters. "
