This paper discusses viral marketing and explains that it is designed so that after only one person receives the message, it will spread via word of mouth or any other means of communications to more individuals who in turn will do the same. The paper discusses several key elements for a successful viral marketing strategy and then presents examples of types of viral marketing used by companies such as Hotmail, Mary Kay, Burger King, and Bernard Madoff.
From the Paper:
"Bernard Madoff made off with over fifty billion dollars of investor's money in the most elaborate and extensive pansy scheme of all time. He will remain infamous for decades if not centuries as the intricacies of his scheme are explored in the months and years since his arrest. His scheme was successful for many reasons but the most notable aspect of the plan was how he had convinced people to invest tens of millions of dollars in what he claimed to be safe stock portfolios that outperformed other portfolios by tremendous amounts.
