The Renaissance
A brief overview of the changes brought about during the Renaissance.
709 words (approx. 2.8 pages) | 7 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the Renaissance and looks at how, during this period, philosophy turned away from the religious aspect of life to focus more on the physical world and that, at the same time, a completely reorganized system of government came into being. The paper also discusses how the Renaissance ushered in new techniques and styles of painting and the invention of the printing press. The paper concludes that the Renaissance was one of the few explosions of knowledge that mankind has experienced, changing the way men saw the world around them.

From the Paper:

"The Renaissance is most commonly described as a period of cultural rebirth. This rebirth is most clearly seen in the changes of thought in the minds of the people. Philosophy turned away from the religious aspect of life, and focused in on the physical world. There was a vast rediscovery of ancient literature and sciences(1 Paragraph 1) which is usually referred to as the beginning of humanism(3 paragraph 1). People began to study what was in front of them, what they could see, feel, and touch. This isn't to say that they turned away from God and religion, God remained a very important aspect of everyday life. The only difference was that people stopped focusing solely on the "next world" and started to learn about the world in front of them (2)."
