The paper explains that the case concerned whether it was the right of the school or the pregnant teacher to determine when the teacher should start her maternity leave. The paper describes the arguments presented by the Cleveland Board of Education and those of Jo Carol Lafleur, as well as the Supreme Court ruling on those arguments. Today, there is no prescribed time for a pregnant woman to stop working. It depends on a variety of factors such as physical health, energy level, ease or complication of the pregnancy, doctors' recommendations and the specific job. Some women begin their leave in the seventh or eighth month. Others work up until the last week, or even day of their term."
