"After Israel first became independent, their main industrial focus was on agriculture, light industry, and labor-intensive production; however, more recently the focus has shifted to a more high-tech industrialized sector. Israel has few natural resources, so it has had to take advantage of the highly skilled and educated society, by implementing new technological ideas and breakthroughs, which has led to a technologically advanced market economy with high-tech capabilities in telecommunications, Information Technology (IT), electronics, and life sciences. A great deal of Israel's economy and business environment is guided by government ownership and participation."
