The paper explains that Hinduism is a multifaceted belief system and is about 3500 years old. The paper tells us that Hinduism is dynamic because it has many scriptures which contain doctrine, philosophical principles, mantras and rituals. The paper also tells us that their are two very important beliefs in the religion of Hinduism: reincarnation and Karma. An explanation of each is provided.
From the Paper:
"What makes Hinduism such a liberal and dynamic religion are the scriptures. There are hundreds of scriptures in Hinduism but three important ones are the Vedas, Upanishads, and the Bhagavad-Gita. The Four Vedas are thought to be the oldest and comprise the core of Hinduism and are called: Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and Athar Veda. These scriptures contain doctrines, philosophical principles, mantras, and rituals. The Upanishads are actually part of the Vedas. In the Upanishads is the emergence of reincarnation, a common belief in Hinduism. The Bhagavad-Gita is part of the epic Mahabharata and is a tale where Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna about life, specifically the idea of Karma, also a common belief in Hinduism."
