This paper explains that fiscal policy, which is conducted at the national, state and local levels, refers to the attitudes these governments take toward revenue, spending and taxation. From an individual standpoint, the author relates, fiscal policy has a direct impact on the amount of money an individual can save or spend. The paper concludes that, although in recent years some stereotypes concerning the deficit and fiscal policies have collapse, politics will continue to influence fiscal policy in the United States in the near future.

"Although taxes are considered to make up the primary source of revenues for the federal government, total revenue can be significantly more than just taxes. This means that the government must balance not only taxation policy, but also miscellaneous charges in its fiscal policy. Although taxes form such a large percentage of total revenue, they generally form the bulk of fiscal policy considerations as well ."
