↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses the many dangers in using computers, notably visual problems, repetitive strain injury and psychological problems like computer and Internet addiction. The paper asserts that the physical and mental issues that can arise from using the Internet are not to be taken lightly.

From the Paper:

"For the past several years, the health effects of computer and Internet use have been widely discussed. Much of this has been done because the Internet has become so very popular in recent years and what can be done with it - as well as the amount of time that many people spend on it - is only increasing. Some argue that there are really no health risks from an activity that is not physically demanding, while others argue that there are many injuries and problems that can be linked to computer usage (e-Business, 2001). This paper will discuss the three most significant computer related problems: repetitive strain injury, visual disturbances, and computer addiction. These are the three that are the most talked about. Repetitive strain injuries and visual disturbances are also some of the most widely seen. While many people talk about Internet addiction, it is really much less common than most people think, and that is why it will only be touched on here (Massey, 2000)."
