Paper Summary:
This paper explains that Steve Jobs, who was at the forefront of Apple when it brought out its flagship products from the original Apple I to the iPod, revolutionized the computing industry. The paper maintains that one of the greatest accomplishments of Jobs had nothing to do with hardware or software, but rather his understanding of the need to personalize computer buying. The paper relates Jobs' personal history and the number of ways, both good and bad, in which Jobs and Apple parallel each other.
From the Paper:
"The successes of both Jobs and Apple came as a surprise. As a young man Jobs was not dedicated to his schoolwork as a whole yet in those subjects that interested him, he would excel. He was a college dropout who spent time living in abandoned dorm rooms and auditing classes that intrigued him. He credits a calligraphy class as the reason there are so many available fonts on the Mac. Bohemian to be sure, but not the traditional picture of a future multi-millionaire. Apple was much the same. Two kids building computers out of a garage, unable to come up with more than a couple thousand dollars in start-up cash."
