Written in 2009; 1,198 words; 3 sources; APA; $ 41.95
Paper Summary:
The paper explains the difference between HIV and AIDS and the different ways for an individual to transmit HIV to another human being.
The paper further explains that once an individual is a full blown AIDS patient, his body's innate immunity will fail, putting him at a high risk for severe infection, possibly resulting in death. The paper relates that we presently do not have a cure for individuals suffering from this disease, but there have been several treatments designed to help prolong the life of HIV/AIDS patients. The paper also points out that it is vital to educate the public on the prevention of spreading HIV.
From the Paper:
"First of all, it is very important for one to comprehend the difference between HIV and AIDS. Once a person has a better understanding of how the disease works, it is easier to decipher the facts from the fiction. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a very small germ, called a virus. This virus attacks the body's immune system, which is what keeps us from getting sick, by fighting off potential bacteria causing infections. As time passes, HIV begins to kill the cells that build up an individual's immune system, causing it to become too weak to fight off any kind of infection. When this occurs, the infected person starts to become sick more frequently and take longer to heal from infections that a non-infected individual would regularly overcome with ease."
