This is a well written creative essay about a husband and a wife in a hospital room with a third non-conscious person. It examines the tense relationship between husband and wife through dialogue and description. The paper examines each character through the narration of the character's movements and gives us a glimpse of their personality through the use of colorful language.
From the Paper:
"You're sure? It's not a bother." She paused, hands twisting and fingering her own empty cup. "We could both do with a refill James."
A tick in the side of the man's face jerked, he absently ran a hand through his hair, then avoiding her mud eyes, he reached for his paper again.
"I said no, June. I've had enough." His voice rumbled through the silent room. June nodded, swallowed and dampened her cracked lips. Retracing her steps she glanced over at her husband. Her fingers trailed to the side of her head as she sat down, the stark lights overhead making her migraine a living nightmare. Suddenly the door opened. An older attractive, if somewhat portly, man walked in. His smile was real - you could see it behind his bespectacled eyes."
