Written in 2009; 1,100 words; 4 sources; MLA; $ 38.95
Paper Summary:
The paper focuses on two highly acclaimed versions of Robin Hood, the fairy tale that is known around the world. The paper outlines the qualities of a hero and asserts that although Robin Hood's greatest talent was stealing and deceiving, Robin Hood was a hero to all.
From the Paper:
"The version of the story by Howard Pyle, when Robin Hood meets Sir Guy of Gisbourne, is the most gruesome tale of the "Prince of Thieves". Sir Guy of Gisbourne is appointed by the Sheriff of Nottingham to capture Robin Hood and bring him back to the sheriff. The story ends with Guy of Gisbourne falling into the traps of Robin Hood and is then captured and beheaded. This part of the Robin Hood legends is excluded from the Disney film because of excessive content, although Pyle had a gift for writing it towards a younger audience. In this story, Gisbourne is known for his cruel actions and heinous murders; a villain to every extent. This makes him the perfect guy for the sheriff to hire to kill the legendary Robin Hood, but his attempts fail tremendously leaving only more adventures to come for the shifty thief."
