Paper Summary:

This paper has compared and contrasted the symbolic desire for material wealth in the two main characters of "The Rocking-Horse Winner" by D. H. Lawrence and "The Destructors" by Graham Greene. Greene's main character, Paul, is very similar to Lawrence's character, Trevor, in the desire to find retribution to their parent's greatly lowered class status as a result of a wartime economy.
