This paper explains that the IPv6, the latest version of IP developed from IPv4, has been indispensable because of the basic drawbacks in the present IPv4 protocol norms, which make IPv4 unable to answer the long-standing necessities of the commercial Internet. The author points out that the increased need for IP addresses worldwide has brought the need for the military to accept transformation to IPv6. The paper relates that, even though IPv4 is in use in particular areas of the network, the new technology IPv6 makes possible new security, mobility, and several applications for networks of the next generation.

Regardless of the procedure being adopted, it boils down to planning since everybody is aware of the fact that greater the time devoted to spend openly in any project, the higher are its likelihood of its becoming successful."
