The Bible
A discussion on different interpretations of the bible.
2,311 words (approx. 9.2 pages) | 4 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses and researches many different interpretations of the bible. The author offers specific citations and compares different texts. The paper offers a personal opinion of the difficulties, problems and even religious conflict that arise due to the different translations and interpretations of these texts.

From the Paper:

"The Bible has been used to achieve less than noble purposes over the years. Some may interpret the Bible as saying that men are superior to women. Going all the way back to Genesis. It was the women who first sinned by accepting the fruit offered by Satan. In turn the woman tempted the man with the fruit. Both fell from God's grace. Some may say that woman was the source of problems for mankind. In most references to humans, the Bible says mankind. This is probably only the way it was interpreted. When the Bible was first being interpreted into the modern languages, society was based on a patriarchal model. Men were considered superior and all references to humans were made using a male noun. Direct references to gender are more specific. God did have specific directives for each of the sexes. Appropriately so, since there are still a few things that only a man has and can do and ditto for women."
