Published on: Jan 01, 2005

Paper Summary:

This paper examines how "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" is a text written specifically for children to encourage their imagination and how it supports the cultural ideologies of its culture because it is a cultural construction. Through the text it is possible to observe the cultural perspective on childhood at a specific point in history. It also examines how "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is both similar to and different from Lewis' work since although Carroll supports some of the cultural ideologies of the time he also challenges most of them.
