American labor unions have had an impact upon the economy and politics since their inception and they continue to play a large role in the American labor force. These unions encompass a large range of laborers, from restaurant workers to steel workers. American labor unions are extremely organized and are overseen by the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO)."
