"What should be giving this next generation of American great concern is the fact that more and more people- scholars, critics, even politicians, are using the example of the fall of the Roman Empire to point out the impending failure of the U.S. What needs to be considered is that there ought to be no valid reason (except economic and political gain for the Administration) to insist that every nation in the world be just like us. Democracy does not work everywhere, and to impose it, as is being done in Iraq now, becomes only a surface acceding to the wishes of the invading army (which is how many Iraqis see us)."
