Supporters of the U.S. action praised it as a bold effort to free a people from tyranny and protect America from further terrorist harm. Critics, on the other hand, interpreted the invasion of Iraq as little more than an imperialist oil-grab and a disingenuous assault that did nothing to bolster America's security. In recent months, the debate surrounding the appropriate time, place and measure of international intervention has seen a new international crisis that makes the discussion all the more pressing and important."
