Globalization
A comparison of the realist and liberal views concerning globalization with a case example of Wal-Mart entering Germany.
1,039 words (approx. 4.2 pages) | 6 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the history and development of globalization. It first discusses and compares the realists and the liberals viewpoint on globalization. The paper then looks at the strengths and the weaknesses of the liberal's and the realist's arguments concerning globalization. Finally, the paper presents the case of Wal-Mart entering Germany and discusses it from the point of view of the realists and liberals.

From the Paper:

"The liberal viewpoint also has its weaknesses; primarily that business (as it expands globally) will continue to have dire effects on the citizens unless proper care is taken to safeguard the rights of the workers. The inherent weakness to this argument is the belief that the only thing industry is after are profits. Most leaders of industry know and understand that the workers are important to the viability and profitability of the company, and they will do what is necessary to ensure that the employees are cared for. That these same leaders will also seek to ensure the highest profit for their shareholders is also true, but to portray them as only concerned with profitability does them a disservice."
