"The effectiveness and persuasion of different written genres is dependent on three things: ethos, logos and pathos. Aristotle discussed these three factors in his defense of rhetoric, and these factors still hold true today. Ethos, or the writer's credibility, is important when establishing an article is believable and accurate. Pathos, or the emotional appeals of an article, is important when trying to persuade the reader that the author's viewpoint is correct.
