Gender and Politics

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the feminist position that male supremacy and dominance in the public sector severely effects the private sector. The paper presents examples of domestic life that are shaped and reproduced by a prevailing male authority and argues that this reproduction contributes to the gender bias in politics. The paper then considers the feminist assertion that, since both the private and public life overlap, this needs to be considered in the political arena in order to encourage political equality.

"There has been an analytical study of how the meager salary and marginalization in the public have a part in adding up to the leaning towards men for money and thus oppressing women sexually and making use of their household work. They have also depicted that the fruitful and household work carried out by the women is linked with other factors of patriarchal power in the general public and other faces of life, both economical and social. Household women take care of men's household, sexual, emotional and materialistic requirements and are servile to the capitalist economy by restricting fight for jobs and by mixing up, giving rise to children and in the maintenance of the working group."
