Authors often manipulate a particular character to be the antagonist in their work; however, this is not always the case. Some authors make a multiple number of characters their evil antagonist. In the Crucible by Author Miller and the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne it is more then just group characters, it's the society, more specifically the Puritan society that represents evil."
