Paper Summary:
This paper evaluates the strength of the U.S. dollar and the euro based on the present conditions and growth prospects of the economy each currency represents. The emergence of economies in Asia, which represent half the world's population and the stability of the dollar are also evaluated. While many think that the euro will be the currency of the future, the author believes that a long-term time frame will see the dollar remaining as the currency of choice.
From the Paper:
"In the last twenty years, the world has seen the emergence of many countries in Asia. These Asian countries are becoming industrialized with powerful economies that continue to grow at high growth rates. India and China have massive growing economies and are in control of a staggering labor force that is cheap in comparison to the western world. It is widely known that the Chinese economy has sustained double digit growth for some time now fueled by a large labor force that works cheaply."
