This paper discusses how Godbout's Knife on the Table and Micone's plays center on social and political themes. However the two authors take the opposite approach to characterization and to their themes. The paper further discusses how Godbout locates the source of the problem with Canadian society in his characters and most notably the narrator who is utterly detached from life and from social concerns.
