Choices and Self-Identity

Paper Summary:

The paper examines how the concept of self-awareness and self-knowledge is a major theme in the books, "Make Lemonade" and "When My Name was Keoko." Characters in these novels have to come to terms with scenarios that have the potential to severely alter their lives, notably those of LaVaughn from "Make Lemonade" and Sun-hee from "When my Name was Keoko." As these characters are similar in age, this paper compares these two characters and notes their similarities and differences.
