This paper discusses the ancient religion of Buddhism and specifically examines three different sects of Buddhism: Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana. The similarities and differences between the different sects are examined as well as the principles, teachings, predominent geographical locations and development of each sect.
From the Paper:
"Because of these discrepancies, the different types of Buddhism appeal to different people and, many times, it comes down to geographical location. The expansion of Buddhism can occurred over a number of centuries and it does not appear like it will slow down any time soon. Even though Christian influences in Korea have the potential to kill the religion off in that country, it continues to thrive in other areas of the globe and, therefore, it will continue to be practiced. Buddhism has had a tremendous influence on Asian culture and it will continue to for a long time."
