Discusses the effect of the Holocaust on Judaism.
2,660 words (approx. 10.6 pages) | 6 sources | MLA | 2008 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper describes the Holocaust, perpetuated by the National Socialist Party (Nazis) in Germany under the ruthless dictator Adolf Hitler, which horrifically persecuted and murdered approximately six million Jewish people along with members of other minority groups. The writer also interviews a Jewish social worker, specializing in post traumatic stress disorder, whose parents survived the Holocaust but whose grandparents were tragic victims. The paper surmises that this horrific event caused extreme damage psychologically to the survivors and their future families and, in many cases, challenged their personal relationships with their God, which the author states characterizes the Jewish religion.

From the Paper:

"They were not allowed to vote, hold any kind of office, work in most professions, or marry non-Jewish people. Adolf Hitler was ultimately planning on getting rid of the Jewish people completely from the face of the earth. When this first started to take place, many Jews quickly fled the country fearing for what would happen next and escaped to any country that would accept them as immigrants. Many found refuge in countries such as Belgium, Czechoslovakia, England, France, and Holland. It was extremely difficult for Jews to escape Europe at this time."
