From the Paper:

"It is necessary that human resources consider the extent to which their firm participates in globally based competition. The work of Adler places firms into categories of : (1) domestic; (2) international, multinational, and transnational. (1991; as cited in Wright, 2001) Wright states that the majority of companies start their operations in the domestic marketplace, which involves "having all of the firm's facilities, employees, and customers within the boundaries of one country. While employees may differ to some extent in terms of their regional or ethnic cultural orientations, the pool of employees is relatively homogeneous. "
