The paper discusses the fictional case of an individual suffering from symptoms of anxiety, depression and a low-self esteem. The selected case is 72 year old Goofy, one of the Walt Disney family, who has a long and documented case history with many behavioral problems, disruptive performance tendencies and shortcomings, all of which are likely induced by issues of self-esteem, anxiety and depression. The paper discusses a number of family circumstances. Goofy's father suffers from various emotional conditions which bring a great deal of distress on the household, which includes Goofy's mother and two younger sisters. Goofy's father suffers from symptoms of manic depression and his mother has deeply regressive tendencies. The paper notes that Goofy's success has often been outshone by his childhood friends, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and this is also a factor contributing to Goofy's self-esteem issues.
