The paper describes the life of a 71 year-old woman from Pennsylvania. The paper begins by describing her childhood and then goes on to describe the story of how she met her three husbands. The paper then goes on to explain how the different events of her life pertain to different social theories. The paper ends by discussing the research experience for the author while conducting the interview with her subject.
From the Paper:
"They married within months after meeting, and P. soon found herself pregnant with her first child. They had a son, and soon, a daughter followed. W. was reassigned to a base in Florida, and the family packed up and moved. Soon after arriving in Florida, P. found that she was expecting their third child.
"One April afternoon, P. and her neighbor were sitting in her back yard with the children, as W. and the neighbor's husband were on the roof trying to repair an electrical line running into the house. As P. was chatting with the neighbor, they heard a terrible sizzling sound and the smell of burnt flesh was in the air. The neighbor's husband started screaming from the roof to call emergency services, but it was too late. W. had been electrocuted, and was pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour later."
