" In addressing a problem involving organizational change, such as the change outlined by Gokenbach (2003), leadership principles should be incorporated. Team members charged with the task of instituting new hiring procedures focus on five leadership commitments. First of all, they challenge the process. They analyze the organization for shortfalls; it is often difficult to realistically perceive processes in which one is intimately involved (Melnyk, 2005). Therefore, Melnyk recommends conducting a SWOT analysis, which looked at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats involved in retaining nurses."
