"When Tom Nies began his career at IBM he soon found out that there was an urgent unmet need for databases. A gifted salesman, Mr. Nies began selling mainframe software and soon realized his customers' need for a database was so urgent that he could create a company within six months and attain enough customers to be self-sufficient. Mr. Nies began working on creating the company immediately and soon had enough sales to quit his sales job at IBM and devote his full time efforts to Cincom. Cincom is celebrating is 40 year anniversary in 2008, and Mr. Nies is still the CEO."
