"While we understand Mr. Knapp's desire to play collegiate basketball at Northwestern University, and his willingness to waive any responsibility the University may have in the case of a serious injury or even death, we feel it is in his best interests to rule him ineligible to play basketball at the University. We believe in our team physicians and their vast background and expert knowledge to appropriately diagnose athletes on an individual, case by case basis and make a fair and correct decision. Since they feel that Mr. Knapp has a possible increase of serious injury from his conditions, along with the possibility that he may endanger other athletes, we feel that this is the correct decision based on the facts of this case."
