1,074 words (approx. 4.3 pages) | 9 sources | APA | 2008 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the alternative solution of companies merging for investment purposes. The author gives several examples which include the merger of Shang-wa Electronics of Korea and US based Lester Electronics and the merger of Kmart and Sears. The paper analyzes these mergers and discusses the risks and benefits involved.

From the Paper:

"One of the primary reasons a corporation seeks acquisitions and mergers is to maximize shareholder wealth. In order to maximize shareholder wealth, an organization must be able to make the right financial decisions by using the tools to increase the overall shareholder value. Organizations will be able to organize their investments and make the most on their investor's capital to increase overall growth of the firm. Therefore, by developing a strong management financial strategy, the organization will be able to maximize long-term shareholder value."
