"The CEO defines declining sales as a mere symptom of the core issues, which are the new store and an unsatisfactory product mix. Linda, the CEO, disagrees with the manager's identification of a low variable pay among junior employees, and she defines this as an urgent and critical problem. Linda, however, agrees that the pending legal issue is a threat but can be categorized as a non-urgent but critical issue. The CEO believes that the product mix is the real problem here since the market for home theatre systems and digital hi-fi equipment may be saturated. The CEO disagreed that Shauna Holland is a problem, and she went on to explain that Shauna's variable pay relies on her staff's productivity and as such she has a right to be pushy for achieving better results. Linda regards the new store as a critical and urgent problem, which needs to be corrected. Finally, Linda views the wide area network as urgent, but not critical."
