"The investigation stage of the SDLC cycle is used to determine the need for improvement and to examine if the improvements are worth implementing. Riordan has already answered the question of the need of improvements. The company's investigations have determined that the company needs to implement an ERP system. Riordan also examined the financial aspects of the project and found that the company does have enough capital to finance this project. The development team also determined that it would be more cost effective to use an external organization to provide the necessary components of the new ERP system."
