"AbstractViolence in contemporary society has reached unprecedented levels, particularly in the realm of hate groups directing their aggression towards ethnic minorities. Anti-Semitism, a persistent strain in the undercurrent of mainstream American culture, is exhibited in two different forms by contemporary hate groups: (1) "insider" versus "outsider" prejudice, a continuation of the European tradition of anti-Semitism that is imbedded in the dominate Anglo-North European Christian majority from which American culture is derived; this variation is exemplified by a hate group such as the Ku Klux Klan; and (2) "outsider" versus "outsider" prejudice, wherein minorities are pitted against minorities, specifically, a minority group within the American society perceives another minority group..."
