Abstract This paper presents a welfare professional's insights into the child welfare system (CWS). The paper explains that the welfare professional was a foster child herself and then goes on to describe three areas that call for attention in terms of revision within CWS: These issues concern systems thinking and the interrelatedness of all CWS decisions, cultural issues in CWS dealings relating to both structural inequality and diversity theories and organizational structure issues, which are relevant in both leadership and change theories and organizational change theories.
From the Paper "Finally, changes in the organizational structure and overall running protocol of CWS agencies will allow improvements in the system. Expecting and fostering accountability will create an environment of strength and security, greatly improving the chances of success for CWS clients. Additional collaboration with outside and connected organizations will provide support and insight while maintaining that accountability through open expectations and goal sharing with those agencies. Most importantly, these changes must occur while moving CWS toward a flat organizational structure. This will address current structural and bureaucratic problems while increasing inter-agency communication. Reducing levels of management will also allow management to work more closely with "front line" staff and improve quality of care."
An investigation of the issue of implementing an AWS-based work arrangement policy for immigration inspectors assigned to international airports in the Washington, DC district of the United States.
Abstract This study focuses on the inconsistent work scheduling process adopted by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), United States Department of Justice, for immigration inspectors assigned to the Washington (DC) District. Immigration Inspectors assigned to international airport duties in this area are not allowed to use AWS, or flexible work schedules. An AWS may mean working a compressed work schedule (CWS) in which a standard 40-hour work week is completed in fewer than five days. Specifically, the author focuses on the feasibility and success of implementing AWS-based work to this group. The author draws conclusions and makes recommendations from the research and data collected on this study, providing charts and graphs to support his findings. The author ultimately recommends that AWS-based work arrangement policy be implemented immediately, and that a CWS work schedule is most compatible with the organization's operational needs.

Some researchers argue that these problems are attributable to the fact that shift workers find themselves out of line with established physiological and social rhythms. Nurses engaged in rotating shift work have been found to exhibit less favorable work behavior when compared to nurses on fixed-shifts. Rotating shift nurses also report lower levels of job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and higher frequencies of job absence (Jamal, 1989)."

This paper discusses the various types of laser propulsion (ALP, SLP, CW, RP, LSD, LSC, etc.) currently available and their development in the context of modern technology. It also addresses the scientific aspects of laser propulsion, with accompanying explanations of physical phenomena supporting such devices. Examples are illustrated with pictures and diagrams.

From the Paper "Ultrasound technology bounces acoustic waves off samples, extracting images and data from the reflected signals by using relatively inexpensive electronics that switch between transmitting and receiving (Rollins, 2005). Ultrasound technology exists in a variety of forms from analog to digital, from pulsed to continuous wave, and from 2D to 3D to 4D images. One of the most advanced ultrasound systems is a continuous wave (CW) Doppler ultrasound that colorizes time-controlled images to calculate fluid velocities within the body (Allan, 2006; Tuite, 2005). Unfortunately, ultrasound technology isn't traditionally considered portable. CW Doppler ultrasound devices, in particular, require large computer boards to function (Allan, 2006). The end result is that most ultrasound equipment is large, ungainly, and expensive."
