Abstract Sleep deprivation seems to be a common ailment of our society. This paper examines how lack of sleep affects teenagers in terms of education and road accidents. It discusses research on the subject and ways that teens can be educated about the benefits of adequate sleep.
From the Paper "Transportation is one of the major issues that is addressed in the NSF report. School bus time tables are set to extremely complicated schedules, and changing these according to changing school schedules would mean large investments. Extracurricular and community programs outside of school hours are also affected by later starting times. There is less daytime to commit to such activities if schools were to start later. This is then also related to safety and travel issues, as there are dangers associated with late extracurricular activities. It is therefore very important to take all of these issues into account when considering change to a school schedule."
