Global Staffing Strategies
A comprehensive report on global staffing strategies for the Apollo Group's expansion into China.
3,235 words (approx. 12.9 pages) | 20 sources | APA | 2009

Paper Summary:

The paper develops a staffing strategy that Apollo Group can use as a reference guide as it acquires Canadian Institute of Business and Technology Corp. (CIBT), an educational provider in China. The paper's comprehensive staffing strategy includes cultural and regulatory factors, recruitment practices, the use of expatriates versus Chinese nationals and training practices. The paper then discusses the importance of international human resource management (IHRM) auditing and presents some possible results from such an audit.

Outline:
Industry Identification and Targeted Country
Staffing Strategy for Organizational Effectiveness
Human Resource Management Audit

From the Paper:

"As the world economy becomes more competitive, dynamic, uncertain and volatile, more firms must compete globally because the costs associated with the development and marketing of new products are too great to be amortized over a single market, even one as large as the United States. Yet many products and services demand accommodation to local customs, tastes, habits and regulations. Consequently, there is a growing need to manage globally, as if the world were one vast market, and, simultaneously, to manage locally, as if the world were a vast number of separate, but loosely connected, markets. These opposing forces are creating a great deal of challenge and opportunity in understanding and conceptualizing exactly how multinational enterprises (MNEs) can compete effectively, especially with respect to international human resource management (IHRM) (Florkowsi & Schuler, 1994)."
