"It's a peaceful evening. I have just finished rearranging my living room; candles are lit and I am serene, at peace, and grateful. As I reminisce, I find that things are not as immutable as I had once believed. Thank God...hope shines bright. Lost in thought about the turn of events in my life, my mind goes to the report that I am now in the process of writing. I chose Maya Angelou's, "Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now" because of the title. I didn't have a clue as to what the book was about, but the title caught my attention. Having lived through the battles of alcoholism, drug addiction, and tragedies almost unspeakable, I wouldn't take anything for my journey now. This journey has been unbelievable and I am truly grateful to be alive to be able to write this essay."
