Galloway. "Each of the authors has reasons of their own for wanting to write this book. General Moore, who was shown throughout the book to be a man of honor and a man who was loyal to his troops, wanted to honor the men who served in the battle of Ia Drang Valley. He also wanted to show a view of war that was not glorified. He wanted the reader to experience the intense emotion, the intense fear and the intense drive to survive, at least as much that is possible through reading a book in the relative safety and comfort of a soft couch. General Moore was nothing if he was not a man of his word."
