Taking the same scene mentioned above, it might as well be argued that after having been held away from food and sleep for days, Kate finally gave up trying to compete Petruchio and took on the subordinate role. She might finally have found her master, someone who is not intimidated by her shrewishness and who is able to lead her. In this case, the last speech has to be seen as a true speech of obedience. "
