Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the play, "The Glass Menagerie," which was written by Tennessee Williams in 1944. The paper introduces and examines the main characters in the script and describes their relationships with one another. The paper also discusses the plot of the story and how the main characters are involved. Lastly, the paper briefly looks at the play's theme of "escape."

From the Paper:

"Very small children. This leaves Laura, who is very quiet and shy. She is relatively happy with her life of simplicity. She hardly leaves the apartment because she is self conscious of her bad leg, this is only added to the intimidation she feels from her once beautiful mother who continually hounds her to meet a man. Most of this story takes place in the apartment's kitchen and living room as well as the buildings fire escape. The fire escape is especially significant later because it becomes more of a symbol for Tom's own escape from his current life and burden of a family."
