1,134 words (approx. 4.5 pages) | 1 source | MLA | 2007

Paper Summary:

This paper reviews the book "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine. The paper describes the issues discussed by Paine, by quoting passages from the book. The paper explains why, according to Paine, the Christian religion, in comparison to other religions, isn't logical in any sense. It concludes with Paine's skepticism of the Bible and the many ways that he analyzes its different books and passages.

From the Paper:

"This is an example of how the different religions all have the same basic story about the origin of their version of the Word of God, but at the same time they all say the others are unbelievers, a perfect example of absent logic. My next quote from Paine is another example of overlapping stories, it shows how similar the different religions are, "The Christian mythologists tell that their Satan made war against the Almighty, who defeated him... it is here easy to see the first fable suggested the second; for the fable of Jupiter and the Giants was told many hundred years before that of Satan."(Paine13) This passage shows how the stories of the Christian religion are borrowed from other sources."
