Paper Summary:

The paper discusses how in his book "The Technology Revolution: The Not- For -Dummies Guide to the Impact, Perils and Promise of the Internet" Okin attempts to make his readers aware of how widely technology affects their lives. The paper examines his treatment of the issues of privacy, security, access and community as they relate to the unique world of cyberspace. The paper looks at how Okin examines the digital divide and what its effect will be on our nation. The paper shows how Okin displays an understanding of both the highlights and pitfalls of the digital age.

From the Paper:

"The first issue Okin tackles is internet privacy. Okin is correct in his assertion that most people assume they have much more privacy online than they actually do. According to Okin most of the people believe that the information they share on the internet is private. Okin in one example explains how the simple act of making an online purchase, a common practice, can take away the privacy of information. Okin explains that our notions of line property are basically false. He is correct. Information has become a valuable commodity and it is naive to think ours won't be used. Googling oneself or conducting a simple online background check easily proves the veracity of his ideas."
