Paper Summary:

This paper discusses and examines "Omid's Story: The Power of Family-Centered Care," written by Debra Raofian. The paper focuses on family centered therapy and the benefits that it presents to the patient and his/her family. The paper discusses this form of therapy based on the experiences of Omid and his family, as presented in Raofian's book.

From the Paper:

"Within this passage are many messages about communication resistance. Raofian experiences direct physician shortfalls with regard to FCC, that are probably not linked to the physicians fears of the unknown, though they could be, but the anecdotes of the two mother's in Bruder's article are clearly responsive to this idea. (2000, p. 105) Either way simply being afraid of not knowing the answers to a question is an illogical though common reaction to communication that negates the idea that the health care system and the family are a team working together to support one another in novel developments for an individual child. (Raofian, 2003, p. 230)"
