"Throughout this discussion we have been able to observe, implicitly and explicitly, the function of black Christianity. For Douglas, black Christianity is a reflex. He redefines aspect of Christology to fit the social and political dynamics that have come to dominate. For Dubois religious striving is equivalent to cultural domination. Jacobs and Du Bois are different in that they attempt to use their Christology as a way out, as a counterpoint. Now the question becomes what is the significance of black Christianity? Simply put, through the paradoxical stronghold of racial identity formation and the production of the body in modern social space, black Christianity becomes a method, which attempts to function as a way out or as an answer to the problem."
